Pastor Dan Boyd

My testimony
The preacher in Bib overalls who led me to JESUS!!!!!!
Although I was raised in a Christian home I drifted further and further away from God. I was married and had 2 sons by the time I was 20 years old.
After graduating from high school, I went to a computer programming school in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. After graduating from CSI I had a job offer at Pitt University. But I couldn't bear the thought of being cooped up in an office. So I packed up my wife and kids and move back to Kansas and went to work building bridges and all kinds of construction.
By 1970 I was still in construction. My wife was from Pennsylvania and now hated Kansas. So she left me and took my sons back to Pennsylvania.
On March 14, of 1970 my wife and oldest son were killed in a car accident. My second son survived but was left handicapped.
So for the next 12 years I became even more bitter and hated everyone. I drank more and fought over anything. It was 1982 when I hit rock bottom. Now mind you most of my family went to the same church in Salina, Kansas. My parents, aunts and uncles all tried to get me to go to church. I was still bitter and hateful. That's when Pastor Wade Dickson started visiting me. We had coffee and he listened and was just a friend and never pressured me. One day he invited me to go to church. I was bound and determined not to go. I said "I will go to church the day you wear bib overalls to church and to preach in".
That was my undoing. Wade showed up for church in bib overalls, and I was not there. Wade didn't confront me but most of my family did.
At that time, I was a bouncer at a rough cowboy bar and I had just became a private detective and I also smoked a pipe. So being a man of my word I showed up the next Sunday. I was smoking my pipe right up to the double glass front doors with my family watching. I was so defiant that I was wearing my shoulder holster.
Now here is when everything got interesting. Also watching was my mother. So I put my hot pipe in my pants pocket and walked in and had to sit by my family.
To my surprise Wade wore the bib overalls again and there was no pressure. I felt at peace until that hot pipe started burning my leg. I sat through the sermon and things calmed down as my pipe cooled.
Because there was no pressure and everyone accepted me with all of my faults I returned the next Sunday. I liked the peace I felt. I then started going to church Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday evenings. Then it happened, the Pastor had a altar call. I felt a tug and I didn't resist. I went to the altar and gave everything to JESUS.
Well my life hasn't been easy since then. And in the past 15 years I have had 3 major heart attacks. But JESUS is not through with me and he has comforted me all the way. He has restored my health and my faith has gotten stronger with time.
In 2003 I fought JESUS because he told me to start a cowboy church. Even though I was a detective, I had done some rodeoing, worked cattle with friends and had several horses. Now I had never heard of a cowboy church.
I finally gave up because you can't win in an argument with JESUS. So I talked to a pastor I knew in Wichita, Kansas. He agreed to preach and help me start this cowboy church. We were allowed to use the PRAIRIE ROSE CHUCK WAGON DINNER THEATER ON Sunday afternoons. Six months later Pastor Dave's church told him he had to quit preaching for us. Now I began to argue with JESUS again. I told JESUS "I am not a preacher and I ain't gonna do it, find someone else".
I finally learned my lesson, I don't argue with JESUS, he is always right.
Nine years later JESUS tells me to ride my horse through all of the lower 48 states and preach to everyone. Well I didn't want to, but in September of 2012 my wife Grace, my son Gary and I left the Cowboy Church and began a ride that took 4 years, 3 horses and a 3-horse slant to sleep in. JESUS didn't say I had to sleep on the ground.
There you have it, I am at peace, I love helping the lost and hurting. I love JESUS and when this life is over I pray that at my judgement I hear "Well done good and faithful servant".

This old cowboy always says.
Stay safe in the saddle, (means founded in Christ) And out of the wire, (means resist Satan's traps).
