Crystal Bassette spent ten whole years in the adult industry and starred in over 100 films. She was living the high life and had no intention of quitting. That was until she had a powerful encounter with Jesus, and decided to leave porn and embark on a new life with her Lord. Oh, and she became a pastor along the way. Her story is nothing short of incredible!"It's definitely the ultimate change. It's going from one extreme to the next. I had to get away from this whole life," according to The Daily Mail. Crystal fell pregnant at 16 and started dancing to pay rent. Then, she met an adult film agent and was soon earning $30,000 per month. But right from the start of her career, she felt like something was wrong.
"I remember after the first scene, I sat in the shower for about two hours crying,' Crystal said. "Then I stopped after that shoot and didn't go back for about one month."
"I ended up going back to it again and that's when I was numbing myself through taking pain medicine and drinking alcohol to get through the scene," Crystal recalls. She bought a big house and settled into her job as an adult actress.
"I just lived for myself and my son and didn't really think about the consequences of making films and dancing and everything. I started to become an object. I wouldn't walk outside my house without showing cleavage, having a belly shirt on and high heels. It was like had to constantly look like the sex symbol."
"I had a house in Malibu, I had a nightclub, I had seven cars. I had a Ferrari, two escalades, I mean, it was crazy," she said.
Meanwhile, her parents were not fully aware of what type of work she was involved in. One day, however, that changed after an unthinkable twist. "My dad was a truck driver. He had a break room and there was a magazine there. And it was opened up to his daughter, naked. And that was his introduction of me to the adult industry. So, that was a bad day."
Things went from bad to worse. In 2014, Crystal had a car accident and received a DWI. The whole ordeal shifted her perspective on her life and she began searching for something more. She sought refuge in the Church, and soon realized she needed Jesus. She was sitting in Church one Sunday when the preacher began to share the gospel. Immediately the Holy Spirit convicted Crystal of her sins and the pastor invited her into a new life with Jesus Christ. "The day I was saved, I felt like the preacher was just speaking to me directly," she recalls.
"It was like he was preaching to only me and you know that day I felt God was talking to me through his preaching and everything he said felt right."
"I got down on my knees and was just praying to God to just release me from everything and my mom was there and my sister came over and were just all crying. And that was the day I got saved."
"After you get saved, you know what you were doing is wrong, and something you don't want to do. I haven't gone back since, and I never will," declares Crystal.
Incredibly, Crystal went on to marry the pastor of her sisters Church, David. The couple soon had a son, Carter. "David is the kind of guy that thinks your past is your past. You can't keep looking back at it. It's done with," she said.
Crystal went on to train as both a paralegal and a pastor. Now, she and David have planted their own Church, New Beginnings Christian Life in Fulton, New York, and hope to use their story to inspire others to come and follow Jesus. "What I would like people to take away from us is that God can forgive you no matter what past you come from. I hope it encourages everybody else to do the same, to realise that money and fame isn't what it's about," said David.
Crystal believes that the grace of Jesus Christ has completely transformed her from the inside out. Now, she is ministering the good news of the gospel to others.
"My past made me who I am today and God has changed my life completely."
